California Whitewater Rafting — AMERICAN RIVER RAFTING TRIPS — We’ve all seen videos of river rafting, and it’s truly one of the most exciting things you can do in California. Most people who go can’t wait to book another trip. If this is your first time whitewater rafting on the American River, here are a few things to expect, so that your trip will be that much more enjoyable:
You will get wet. This isn’t an amusement park ride where you get a little spray of water. White water rafting is a wild adventure, and you will get seriously wet. You will want to wear appropriate clothing that can get and stay wet while you’re on the river. And don’t forget to have waterproof footwear to protect your feet.
The water will be cool. Even on a hot day, river water up in the mountains will be cool, and can be uncomfortable, if you’re not prepared for it. If you have a tendency to be cold, you may want to consider renting a wetsuit from Adventure Connection for your whitewater rafting trip. Discuss it with your guide before you take off.
You won’t be taking anything on the raft. Once you’re out on the river, you are in for a rough ride, and anything loose in the raft will be swept away. You won’t be bringing anything that can’t get soaked. In fact, leave your valuables at home. But, not to worry, your dry clothing and gear will be waiting for you at the campsite.
