The free-flowing North Yuba River is a unique rafting experience for the adventurous first timer or return rafter! Accessible from San Francisco, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe this unique river trip is located on the historic Highway 49. The nearby mining towns of Downieville and Sierra City offers restaurants, lodging and camping options, saloons and historic landmarks. There are only 3 outfitters permitted on this river making it much less crowded than the American.
Participants on Yuba River rafting trips must swim, be in good physical condition, and at certain flows may need to have prior Class IV paddling experience. Wetsuits are usually required for this run. You can bring your own or rent them for $15 in advance.
Our 1 day trips are typically suitable for adventurous first-timers, although higher flows may require previous experience. We meet at our private camp off Highway 49. Due to the free flowing nature of this river (ie: no dam controlling the water) we will determine which run we raft on for safety reasons. Possible runs include the popular Maytag Run (aka: Goodyear’s Bar), Moss Canyon, Rossosco Ravine, or Bullards Bar.
The best way to experience Yuba River rafting! Spend 2 amazing days rafting on challenging Class IV and V rapids. Several runs await you like Bullards Bar, Rossosco, Goodyears Bar – featuring the infamous Maytag Rapid, and Moss Canyon – 3 continuous Class V drops! These are only available in the spring and depend on snowpack/melt, but sometimes last until July in a good year! Trips meet at our private camp in Tahoe National Forest and include 4 delicious meals.
