Itinerary

Before embarking on your Truckee River rafting trip, personal flotation devices, paddles & helmets are provided and a safety talk is given. Each whitewater raft contains a professional river guide who will call out commands and help steer. Paddling skills are explained and practiced before the rafts head downstream on this 7 mile river trip.

Soon after the confluence of the Little Truckee and the main Truckee River, class 2 boulder gardens start and there is a scenic swimming area. The Truckee River enters a volcanic canyon, of craggy eroded cliffs formed by ancient lava flows from Mt. Pluto. There are fun Class 2-2+ rapids, like Wake Up (AKA Menace Rapid), Airplane Turn and Railroad Rapid (AKA lower & upper Rock Garden).

Just before the last mile, the river enters the Floriston Gorge. The Class 2+ Kabob rapid is followed by a couple of Class 2 drops which lead into the Class 3+ “Jaws”. Just around the corner the river drops into a long boulder garden called Pinball Machine. This is followed by the Class 3+ Bronco Ledge and lower Bronco.

At the take-out in Floriston we serve refreshments. The guides load the equipment and we shuttle you back to the meeting location.
