High water on the Americans! I’ve been rafting these rivers since 1980, and only once since then have I seen American River rafting conditions that equal what we have this year….and that was back in 1983. Normal flow on our Class III South Fork River is usually in the 1500 to 1600 CFS range…yesterday it was pumping at 6,500 CFS. And we expect flows in that range, and even higher, from now right on thru June. Our Class IV trips on the North Fork are usually over by mid to late May, but not this year! We’ll see that river into early July.
We’ve been on the water now for over a month and we’re finding our guests, and our guides, are absolutely blown away (in a good way) by the water conditions. It just doesn’t get better than this. And this once-in- a-lifetime opportunity will be here with us for the next few months. One thing to note is that with higher flows we have raised our minimum age for youths from 7 to 12 years of age…a change that we’ve implemented and will keep in place thru mid to late June. To celebrate these high flows we’re running several California Whitewater Rafting Deals, Specials and Promotions.
Beyond that we’re just having fun. The hills are green, the sun is hot, the water is flowing and we’re having the time of our lives. We are incredibly excited to be able to enjoy a life of white water rafting in California. Come Join us on the American River today! Check out our Trip Planning page for more info.
