A Coloma River Rafting Romantic Getaway- Hop on the river in California With Your Loved One

Get away from the hustle and bustle of LA and San Fran and hop on the river for a romantic weekend of whitewater and bonding by the river! Coloma, California and the surrounding cities offer amazing activities and places to bond with your significant other.  Are you thinking about planning a Coloma river rafting trip? Here is everything you need to know to plan the perfect whitewater weekend:

Find the perfect spot to settle into

Here in the Coloma Valley, we have lots of options for places to stay during your visit. Everything from romantic B&B’s to rustic camping; you choose your poison. Here are our top local recommendations!

Villa Florentina: Luxury at it’s finest. Stay at this cute B&B after a long day of Coloma river rafting and spoil yourself before getting on the water agian the next day!

Historic Carry House Hotel: Step in the wild west on old Mainstreet, Placerville (also known as Old Hangtown).

Adventure Connection Camp Ground: Stay at our own camp ground before your trip! Wake up next to the river and let us make you some coffee and breakfast.

Start the morning right with an awesome breakfast!

We have lots of great breakfast places to eat before your trip, here are some of our favorites:

Sierra Rizing Bakery: The finest bakery in town. Try their homemade croissants and handpies and you will be in love!

Sweetie Pies: A small town diner like no other; The cinnamon rolls are as big as your face.

Totem Coffee: A hip new place with the best coffee/teas in town.

Wine and Dine

Our Red Wine Whitewater trip will treat you to the best wineries in town, but here are some other options for nights out around Coloma and Placerville:

Marcos: Only a few miles down the road, Marcos is an outdoor focaccia pizza place with great live music on the weekends.

Solid Ground Brewery: Our favorite new brewery in town that happens to have some of the best wings around!

Coloma Club: Looking for a night out? Come on over to this small town dive bar: the watering hole of Coloma!

See the most romantic views

we are located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountain Range so we have no shortage of beautiful hikes and views! Here are some of the best local hiking trails:

The Monroe Ridge Trail: Located right in the Coloma Gold Discover State Park, the Monroe Ridge Trail is an easy hike with killer views of the Coloma Valley, the South Fork of the American River, and the surrounding foothills.

Sly Park Lake Hiking and Biking Loop: Only about a 30 min drive from us is Sly Park Lake with a loop that you can hike or mountain bike around (with cool off breaks in the lake, of course!).

The Dave Moore Nature Trail: Also right here in Coloma is this scenic short loop that meanders right by the river for a nice little beach! It’s dog-friendly as well!

Finally, some places to just enjoy the nature and each other

Some of the strongest memories are made from the smallest things like soaking in the sun or watching the river roll by. Here are our favorite local nature spots and beaches:

Henningson Lotus Park: The largest sandy beach along the river in Coloma, but here is a local’s tip: Walk up past the parking lots along the river and there are lots of small little beach coves that offer some more privacy!

Adventure Connection’s Camp Ground: We have one of the largest private camp grounds in the valley, and it is simply beautiful! With lots of little nooks and crannies right along the river, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the moment!
