Two weeks ago we started running our 2-day wine tasting and American River rafting trips. The wineries are excited to see us once again in their tasting rooms, and the folks who came with us had a great time.
This particular trip was highlighted by Sunset Magazine as one of the “Top Ten River Trips In The West”. There’s really nothing quite like it anywhere else in the country, and we have found that it has easily become our most popular 2-day excursion. What’s not to love? Great wine, delicious food, fun rapids and interesting people from all over the state, the country and even the world spending a few days exploring all that El Dorado County has to offer.
In addition to individuals, couples and small groups of friends we’ve also found that this trip really appeals to wedding planners looking for a completely unique bachelorette party, as well as corporate executives wanting to treat their staff to a different team building experience.
I was talking with two of our guests last week who came on the trip. They had flown in from New York city for a week to visit our fair state, and their impetus for coming – the initial reason why they made their plans – was a review they had read of this particular trip on Yelp. They were big-time oenophiles (that’s wine lovers for the rest of us!) who had traveled through wine country from California to Oregon to Washington and they were very impressed by the quality of the wines they found in our local vineyards. It was fun to compare notes about their favorite wines throughout the west. El Dorado County did very good on that list.
The great California Gold Rush began here in our backyard in 1849, and we’re finding there’s still more gold – by way of water and grapes – in our foothills. We’ll be exploring both all summer long!
